Quick answer

For Christmas wine in Cyprus, Limassol has the widest choice: Punin Wine in Germasogeia delivers island-wide and makes up gift baskets and corporate sets, and Wine & More by French Depot has shops in Limassol, Nicosia and Paphos. In Nicosia, Vino Cultura and MY Vine Merchants sell bottles to take home; in Larnaca, The Oak Tree cellar in the old town specialises in small Cypriot producers. For local bottles at the source, wineries such as Zambartas, Tsiakkas, Vasilikon and Kamanterena sell from their cellar doors. A KEO St John Commandaria costs about €20 (2026); call wineries before driving up in December.

  • Punin Wine in Germasogeia (Limassol) delivers across Cyprus in 1–3 working days, free over €50 (otherwise €5), and in Limassol from 15 minutes.
  • Punin made up holiday gift baskets, bespoke gift sets and corporate gift sets for Christmas 2025; its 2026 range had not been announced when we checked on 5 November 2026.
  • A 500 ml KEO St John Commandaria costs about €20 (2026); the award-winning St John Commandaria Luxury 1984 is about €86 (2026).
  • Winery cellar doors open in winter, but hours vary: Tsiakkas in Pelendri is open daily 09:00–16:00 except Sundays, and Kamanterena near Stroumbi opens its tasting room on weekdays only.
  • You must be 18 to buy alcohol in Cyprus.

We're adding the shops' and wineries' 2026 Christmas gift boxes and holiday opening hours to this guide as they're published. Leave your email and we'll send you the updated guide.

The easiest places to buy wine in Cyprus for Christmas are the specialist shops in Limassol, which deliver across the island, and the wineries' own cellar doors in the Limassol and Paphos hills. Nicosia and Larnaca have smaller but good shops, and every district has a supermarket wine aisle for everyday bottles. For gifts, look for Commandaria, a bottle from a small family winery, or a ready-made gift basket.

Last checked: 5 November 2026. Shops and wineries had not yet published their 2026 Christmas gift boxes or holiday hours. Where we mention a 2025 range, we say so, and we will add the 2026 details as they appear.

For which bottle to serve with turkey, lamb or melomakarona, see our guide to the best Cypriot wines and Commandaria for Christmas. This guide is about where to buy them.

What should you budget for a wine gift?

  • Commandaria, the classic local gift: a 500 ml KEO St John Commandaria costs about €20 (2026). The award-winning KEO St John Commandaria Luxury 1984 is about €86 (2026) at Punin Wine.
  • A rare bottle: Punin Wine sells a Richard Vintage Commandaria 2000 in a 50 cl gift box for about €278 (2026).
  • A good Cypriot bottle: most bottles from the island's small wineries cost €10–€25.
  • Something to go with it: at Wine & More by French Depot, a 250 g Venchi Chocoviar gift box is about €42 (2026), and a cheese platter for four to five people about €50 (2026).

You must be 18 to buy alcohol in Cyprus.

Limassol

Limassol is the island's wine capital, with the most shops in town and the biggest cluster of wineries in the hills behind it.

Punin Wine, Germasogeia

Punin Wine, at Georgiou A' 67 in Germasogeia, is the big name for wine delivery. Its range runs from everyday Cypriot bottles to rare Commandaria, champagne and spirits, plus cheeses and delicacies.

  • Delivery: in Limassol from 15 minutes (Monday to Friday 10:00–22:00, weekends 11:00–21:00); across Cyprus in 1–3 working days, free over €50 and €5 below that; international shipping is quoted separately.
  • Christmas gifts: for Christmas 2025 it made up ready-made holiday hampers, bespoke gift sets and corporate gift sets at several price points.
  • Tip: if you are sending a basket to someone in Nicosia or Paphos, order by the middle of December to allow for the 1–3 day courier time.

Wine & More by French Depot

A small chain of wine and deli shops with two branches in Limassol: one at Spyrou Kyprianou 17 (Monday to Saturday 09:00–19:45, closed on Sundays) and one at My Mall. It is strongest on French wines, Calvados, Armagnac and Cognac, with artisanal cheese, cold cuts, foie gras and Venchi chocolate, so it is a good one-stop shop for a food-and-wine gift. All branches also sell through Wolt.

Nektar Wine Shop

At Thessalonikis 17 in the centre, Nektar has a curated list that includes orange wines, sweet wines and Greek retsina. It sells gift vouchers of €20, €30, €50 and €100, handy if you don't know someone's taste.

Winery shops in the Limassol hills

Buying at the cellar door means you can taste first and often find bottles that never reach the shops. The Limassol Tourism Board advises checking ahead, and that matters even more in December.

Winery Village When to go What to buy
Zambartas Wineries Agios Amvrosios Daily 10:00–17:00; appointment preferred; +357 25 942424 Wines from local grape varieties; several tasting experiences

Linos Winery Omodos Generally daily, morning to early evening Family wines sold straight from the cellar
Ayia Mavri Winery Koilani Tuesday to Sunday 11:00–16:00 Wines from a family winery in the wine villages
Revecca Winery Agios Mamas Walk-ins usually welcome; booking recommended Commandaria, with a tasting of three styles

Combine a winery stop with Lofou, Agros or Kyperounta, which are official Christmas Villages from 21 November 2026; see our Christmas Villages guide.

Cyprus Wine Museum, Erimi

At 42 Pafos Street in Erimi, about 13 km west of Limassol, the museum opens daily 09:00–17:00 and closes on public holidays. Its tastings, from about €15 (2026) with Commandaria and zivania, are a good way to decide what to buy before a Christmas shop.

Nicosia

  • Vino CulturaKyriakou Matsi 20: one of the capital's best-known wine bars, with its own wine shop. Ask the staff for a Cypriot bottle in your budget and taste a glass first.
  • MY Vine Merchants CavaKatsoni 10D: more than 200 labels from around the world and a gift packages category. It keeps short hours (10:00–18:00 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday; 10:00–13:00 on Wednesday and Saturday; closed on Sunday), so check before you go.
  • Wine & More by French Depot: the chain also has a Nicosia branch, which sells and delivers through Wolt.
  • Vetrina, The Landmark Nicosia: opened on 28 February 2026, with a deli counter and retail boutique selling olive oils, coffee, cheeses and cured meats, and a boutique wine collection. Good for putting together a food-and-wine present in one stop.

Most Cypriot wineries are a drive from the capital, so Nicosia residents often order from Limassol shops or buy in the Troodos on the way to a Christmas Village.

Larnaca and Famagusta

  • The Oak Tree Wine Cellar & Tasting Room, Larnaca old town, a few steps from Saint Lazarus Church: run by the Katodritis family, it focuses on small producers and local grape varieties. It runs a 90-minute tasting of 10 Cypriot wines and a liqueur, and its online shop, Cyprus Wines Online, sends gift parcels of wine worldwide. A tasting here is a gift in itself.
  • Cavaway, Dodekanisou 4, Livadia: a wine and drinks warehouse that sells and delivers through Wolt, open until 19:30 on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and until 17:30 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.
  • Cyprus Duty Free, Larnaca airport: handy for guests flying home; see the Christmas wine guide for allowances.

We could not confirm a specialist wine shop in the Famagusta district (Ayia Napa, Protaras, Paralimni) trading in 2026. Residents there are best served by the Larnaca shops or by Punin's island-wide delivery.

Paphos

  • Wine & More by French Depot Paphos, Tafoi ton Vasileon 8, Dora Court: open Tuesday to Saturday 10:00–19:30 and Sunday 10:00–17:00, closed on Monday. Wines, cheeses, platters and Venchi chocolates, including gift bags and boxes.
  • Vasilikon Winery, Kathikas: open 08:30–18:00, with a restaurant from 10:00 to 16:00, a tasting area and a small wine museum looking towards the Akamas; +357 26 633999.
  • Kamanterena Winery, between Stroumbi and Polemi: the tasting room is open on weekdays from about 08:30 to 15:00, and at weekends by appointment; +357 26 633000. You can taste the whole range before you buy.

How do you choose a Christmas wine gift?

  • For a host: a bottle of Commandaria or a Cypriot sparkling wine travels well and is easy to serve with dessert.
  • For a wine lover: a bottle from a small winery they won't know, bought at the cellar door, with a note of where it came from.
  • For a family or office: a ready-made basket with wine, cheese and chocolate. Our Christmas gifts from Cyprus guide has more local products that keep well.
  • For someone abroad: wine is heavy and pays excise duty when posted to the UK, so a Commandaria in your suitcase is often the better choice. The gifts guide explains the UK allowances.

When should you order for Christmas?

Shops must close by 18:00 on 24 December, are shut on 25 December, and in 2025 also closed on 26 December. Small wineries may close for the holidays, and mountain roads can be slow after rain or snow. A safe timeline:

  1. Late November: visit wineries while the weather is good, and buy bottles that need to travel.
  2. By mid-December: order gift baskets and island-wide deliveries.
  3. Week before Christmas: last local deliveries and shop visits; expect queues on 23 and 24 December.
