Quick answer
For Christmas decorations in Cyprus, the big choice is at IKEA in Strovolos, Superhome Center's six stores in Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca and Paphos, Leroy Merlin in Strovolos and Jumbo's stores in Nicosia, Limassol and Paphos, with Flying Tiger for small, cheap pieces. Real pine trees come from Forestry Department stations in December; in 2025 they cost from about €6 and were sold from 26 November to 19 December. For handmade ornaments, go to the Mall of Cyprus Christmas Market from 21 November 2026, the Strovolos Christmas Festival on 12–13 December or the nine Christmas Villages.
- IKEA's Christmas range reaches its Nicosia store from 1 November; Superhome Center sells classic, pre-lit, pop-up and snowy artificial trees, lights, light projectors and wreaths in six stores.
- Jumbo's Latsia store, about 9,000 m² over two floors, has a seasonal section with Christmas items; Jumbo also has stores in Lakatamia, Limassol and Paphos.
- Real trees come from the Forestry Department: in 2025, Calabrian pines up to 1.5 metres cost €6–10 and firs up to 2 metres about €60, on weekdays 08:00–14:30. The 2026 dates were not out on 5 November 2026.
- For handmade decorations, the Mall of Cyprus Christmas Market opens on 21 November 2026 with stalls from local makers, free to enter.
- Never cut your own tree: taking one from the forest without a permit can mean a fine of up to €5,000 and/or a year in prison.

The big stores, shop by shop
IKEA has its only full store at Verginas Street 1, Strovolos, next to the Mall of Cyprus, and a Plan & Order Point with a Swedish Food Market at Katsantoneon 20, Kato Polemidia, in Limassol. Its Christmas page says the range reaches stores from 1 November. Expect the VINTERFINT collection for decorations, STRÅLA for LED lights and stars, and festive textiles, candles and gift wrap. Tip: go on a weekday morning in November; by December the popular lights and paper stars sell out, and the Limassol point has a smaller display.
Superhome Center opened its first store in Nicosia in 1999 and now has six large stores in four cities: Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca and Paphos. Its Christmas range covers classic, pre-lit, pop-up, mini and snowy artificial trees, a real plants and trees category, string lights and light projectors, wreaths, garlands, crackers and wrapping paper, and it sells online. In Nicosia there is a store in the Mall of Engomi; in Paphos, one anchors the Neon Mall at the eastern entrance to the town. Tip: if you live in Larnaca or Paphos, this is the closest big choice for a tree and outdoor lights.
Leroy Merlin is a DIY store at Kalamon 16, Strovolos, open Monday to Saturday 08:00–20:00 and Sunday 10:00–19:00. Its Christmas section sells bauble sets, lights and decorations alongside everything you need to hang them: outdoor extension leads, timers, hooks and ladders. Tip: buy outdoor lights rated for outdoor use and plug them into a socket with a residual-current device; winter rain arrives with the festive season.
Jumbo has two stores in the Nicosia area, in Lakatamia and Latsia, plus stores in Limassol, at the entrance to the Agios Athanasios industrial area, and on Tombs of the Kings Avenue in Paphos. The Latsia store, which opened in October 2024, covers about 9,000 m² over two floors and has close to 40,000 products, with a seasonal section for Christmas next to toys and children's goods. Tip: Latsia uses a one-way route through the store, so allow time; it is the place for children's decorations, Christmas stockings and party goods.
Flying Tiger Copenhagen had seven stores by December 2025, four of them in Nicosia, the newest at the Mall of Engomi, plus Limassol and Paphos. It is the cheapest place for small ornaments, advent calendar fillers and Secret Santa bits. Tip: the Christmas range is small and sells quickly; go in November.

Where to buy a real Christmas tree
Imported Nordmann firs are hard to find in Cyprus, and we could not confirm any garden centre stocking them for 2026. The reliable source is the Forestry Department, which sells pine trees from the thinning of its plantations every December. Each legal tree carries the department's seal, and prices are the same at every station.
In 2025 sales ran from 26 November to 19 December, Monday to Friday, 08:00–14:30, at these stations:
| District | Station | Phone |
|---|---|---|
| Nicosia | Athalassa Forest Station | 22 403749 |
| Larnaca | Larnaca Forest Station; Dhekelia | 24 818108; 24 723432 |
| Limassol | Limassol Forest Station; Fasouri; Parekklisia | 25 872306; 25 952120; 25 636010 |
| Paphos | Paphos office, Geroskipou; Gialia; Panagia | 26 306266; 26 812730; 26 817416 |
| Troodos | Platania Forest Station | 22 608512 |
Prices in 2025: Calabrian pine up to 1.5 metres €6–10, up to 3 metres about €11 and up to 5 metres about €45; black pine up to 1.5 metres about €14, 2.5 metres €22–30 and up to 5 metres €55; fir up to 2 metres about €60, in limited numbers.
Tips: go early in the sale for the best shapes, especially if you want a fir; take a blanket or old sheet for the car, and cut a few centimetres off the trunk at home before putting it in water. Never cut a tree yourself: taking, keeping or transporting a tree from the forest without a permit is an offence, with a fine of up to €5,000 and/or up to a year in prison. Superhome Center's real plants and trees category is the other option; phone your nearest store to ask what it has this year.
Lights, inside and out
- Indoors: IKEA's STRÅLA lights and paper stars are the easy choice for windows; Flying Tiger has cheap battery fairy lights for jars and shelves.
- Outdoors: Superhome Center sells string lights and light projectors, and Leroy Merlin has lights plus outdoor leads and timers. A timer saves electricity and switches the lights off when you go to bed.
- Batteries: stock up on AA and AAA before Christmas Eve, when shops close at 18:00.
Handmade decorations at Christmas markets
Mall of Cyprus Christmas Market, Strovolos (Nicosia). Free to enter on the mall's first-floor car park, with stalls from local makers and artisans selling handmade gifts and seasonal decorations. It opens on Saturday 21 November 2026, then every Saturday and Sunday to 20 December, and every day from 21 to 31 December except 25 and 26 December, 11:00–18:00. The mall lights its decorations on Sunday 22 November at 17:30.
Strovolos Christmas Festival, Acropolis Park (Nicosia). A bazaar of local stallholders on 12–13 December 2026.
UNIC Christmas Village, University of Nicosia. Wooden chalets and festive stalls on Friday 27 November (18:00–22:00) and 28–29 November (11:00–18:00).
The nine Christmas Villages. From 21 November 2026 to 6 January 2027, Agros, Deryneia, Fikardou, Kakopetria, Kalopanagiotis, Kyperounta, Lefkara, Lofou and Statos-Agios Fotios have stalls of local crafts and products. See our Christmas Villages guide for opening days.
Lefkara lace. A small piece of Lefkaritiko embroidery makes a lovely tree ornament or table runner. The Lefkara Handicraft Centre, Agiou Georgiou 7, Pano Lefkara, is open daily 10:00–13:00 and 14:00–17:00, closed Wednesdays and public holidays. Tip: combine it with the Christmas Village in the same village.
For more markets and dates, see our Christmas events and markets guide.
By district
Nicosia
The best-stocked district. IKEA, Leroy Merlin and the Mall of Cyprus market are all in Strovolos, within a few minutes of each other, so you can do a full decorating trip in one morning. Add Jumbo in Lakatamia or Latsia for children's pieces, Superhome Center at the Mall of Engomi, and a real tree from Athalassa Forest Station.
Limassol
Superhome Center's Limassol store and Jumbo, at the entrance to the Agios Athanasios industrial area, cover trees, lights and decorations; IKEA's Plan & Order Point in Kato Polemidia is for ordering and collection rather than browsing. Real trees come from the Limassol, Fasouri and Parekklisia forest stations.
Larnaca
Superhome Center is the main local store. For IKEA or Jumbo, Strovolos and Latsia are about 30–40 minutes up the motorway. Real trees come from the Larnaca and Dhekelia stations, and Lefkara, about 40 minutes away, is the place for lace.
Paphos
Superhome Center at the Neon Mall, Jumbo on Tombs of the Kings Avenue and Flying Tiger cover most needs. Real trees come from the Geroskipou, Gialia and Panagia stations. Cap St Georges in Peyia usually runs a Christmas Village and market in the square by the church of Agios Georgios; its 2026 dates are still to be confirmed.
Famagusta district
There is no big home store in the Ayia Napa and Paralimni area, so most families drive to Larnaca or Nicosia, or order from Superhome Center online. Deryneia is the district's Christmas Village, with local stalls from 21 November.
Save money and space
- Buy second-hand. Charity shops and Facebook groups fill up with decorations in November; see our second-hand and charity shops guide.
- Buy after Christmas. Leftover stock is often reduced once the season ends; the winter sales started on 7 January in 2026.
- Store it dry. Cypriot storerooms get damp in winter, so pack lights and ornaments in sealed plastic boxes rather than cardboard.
What to do next
- Do your decorations and lights shop in early November, while stock is full.
- Note the Forestry Department sale when it is announced; we will add the 2026 dates here.
- Plan a market or village day with our Christmas events and markets guide, and if family is visiting, read our hosting guests at Christmas guide.
