Getting Ready for Halloween in Cyprus: Where to Buy Costumes, Make-up and Decorations (2026)

Quick answer

For Halloween 2026 (Saturday 31 October), the easiest places to find costumes, wigs, masks and face paint in Cyprus are carnival specialists such as The Carnival Store in Limassol, toy shops such as Toybox in Paphos, and chains such as Jumbo and Flying Tiger Copenhagen; IKEA's autumn range covers decorative pumpkins, lanterns and lights. Cypriot online shops such as The Carnival Store, Toybox and the Skroutz marketplace deliver around the island, while orders from non-EU platforms pay VAT from the first euro and, since 1 July 2026, a €3 customs duty per item type.

  • Halloween 2026 is on Saturday 31 October; 28 October (Ohi Day) is a public holiday, so order before the midweek break.
  • The Carnival Store in Limassol sells costumes, wigs, masks, face paints and FX make-up, with free ACS delivery on orders over €50.
  • Toybox in Paphos has a Halloween section for children aged about 2 to 12 and advertises next-day delivery across Cyprus.
  • Non-EU parcels pay 19% Cypriot VAT at any value and, from 1 July 2026, a €3 duty per item type on parcels worth up to €150.
  • Children's costumes count as toys under EU rules and must carry the CE mark.

Halloween 2026 falls on Saturday 31 October, and if you want a costume, a wig or a box of decorations, you have about two weeks. Here is where to buy everything in Cyprus, city by city and online, what customs charges to expect on overseas orders, and when to order so it all arrives in time.

Last checked: 16 October 2026. Shops change their ranges every season, so call ahead if you need something specific.

Is Halloween a big deal in Cyprus?

It is growing, but it is not a local tradition. As Cyprus Mail put it in 2024, Halloween traditions "have nothing Cypriot about them". Cypriots dress up for carnival (Apokries) in February or March instead, which is good news for you: the island has year-round fancy dress shops, and anything you buy now can be worn again at carnival.

Most Halloween celebrations here are organised events: family festivals at botanical parks and malls, children's theatre, pet runs and adult parties. We list the confirmed 2026 dates, from the CyHerbia and Lumina festivals to Limassol parties, on our events page.

Where can you buy Halloween costumes in Cyprus?

Carnival and fancy dress specialists

Limassol's carnival culture means the best-stocked costume shop we found is there. The Carnival Store, run by the Limassol toy retailer CXC, is at 167 Ayias Fylaxeos Street. Its website has a Halloween category and lists costumes for women, men, children and babies, plus face paints, FX paints, wigs, hats and masks. Opening hours are 08:30–19:30 Monday to Saturday and 10:00–18:00 on Sunday. It delivers across Cyprus through ACS, free on orders over €50, and you can pay cash on delivery. In 2025, FastForward reported that CXC carried more than 20,000 costumes and 30,000 accessories. CXC's toy shops are in Limassol and Germasogeia (CXC Toys & Baby Stores).

FastForward's carnival costume guide names other specialists, including rental shops in Nicosia. It dates from February 2025, so check that a shop is still trading before you go.

Toy shops for children's costumes

Toybox, at 1 Nikou Kazantzaki in Paphos (open 9:00–19:00 Monday to Saturday, closed Sunday), has a Halloween and party section with witches, wizards, ghosts, skeletons, vampires and monsters, plus masks, wigs, props and face paint. Sizes run from toddler (2–4 years) to 10–12 years. When we checked, prices on the first page of its 133 costumes and accessories ran from €2.99 to €49.99. It advertises next-day delivery by ACS to all of Cyprus.

Jumbo, the Greek toy and home-goods chain, has six stores in Cyprus, including the large Strovolos store in Nicosia, across from IKEA, which opened in 2024. Check the seasonal aisle for costumes, masks and party goods.

Chains for accessories and small decorations

Flying Tiger Copenhagen had seven stores in Cyprus by December 2025: four in Nicosia (the newest at the Mall of Engomi) and others in Limassol and Paphos. The Danish chain brings out a seasonal Halloween range every year (111 items in 2026, according to reports from Japan), but ranges differ by country, so check what your local store has.

Where can you buy Halloween decorations?

  • IKEA. Its 2026 autumn range, including the HÖSTAGILLE collection, includes lanterns, decorative pumpkins, wreaths, candles, twinkling lights and orange and earthy tableware, with what Cyprus Mail called "subtle Halloween-inspired touches". It is sold at IKEA's Nicosia store and on IKEA.com.cy.
  • Jumbo and Flying Tiger. Both are good places to look for party tableware, garlands and small decorations.
  • The Carnival Store and Toybox. Not decorations as such, but hats, masks, gloves and other props double as party décor.

For real candles inside pumpkins, consider LED tea lights instead: they are safer around children and costumes.

Which online shops deliver fast in Cyprus?

Toybox Children's costumes and accessories "Next-day delivery to all Cyprus" by ACS

Wolt Market Groceries, sweets and snacks Delivery-only stores in Nicosia, Larnaca and Limassol; promised delivery in under 30 minutes when the Limassol store opened (2023)

Skroutz started delivering in Cyprus from a Larnaca warehouse in 2025 and has since expanded its own delivery network and its Skroutz Points lockers. FastForward noted in 2025 that Skroutz lists carnival costumes for adults and children.

Amazon, Shein and Temu. Many expats order from these platforms; Cyprus Mail reported that more than 100,000 small parcels arrived in the first 15 days of July 2026 alone, many from Shein and Temu. We could not confirm delivery times to Cyprus from their own pages, so check the delivery date shown at checkout with your Cyprus address before you rely on it for 31 October.

What will you pay in customs on overseas orders?

Orders shipped from another EU country pay no customs charges. Orders from outside the EU, including the UK, are different. As of 2026:

  1. VAT from the first euro. Since 1 July 2021, the EU has charged import VAT on all goods from outside the EU, however cheap; the old €22 exemption was abolished. In Cyprus the standard rate is 19%. If the seller uses the EU Import One-Stop Shop (IOSS), the VAT is included in the price at checkout and you should not pay it again.
  2. A €3 duty on parcels worth up to €150. From 1 July 2026 to 1 July 2028, a flat €3 customs duty applies to consignments with an intrinsic value of €150 or less. It is charged per declaration line, so a costume, a wig and a set of fangs with different tariff codes can mean €9, while three identical items count once. It applies whether or not VAT was paid through IOSS.
  3. Normal duty above €150. Bigger orders pay the normal EU tariff rate as well as VAT.

If charges were not paid at checkout, the courier or Cyprus Post collects them on delivery, sometimes with a handling fee. Parcels sent from a warehouse in another EU country where duty was already paid are exempt. Our guide to parcels and customs in Cyprus explains the process.

Which shops are in your city?

  • Nicosia: IKEA (decorations), Jumbo in Strovolos, Flying Tiger (four stores, including the Mall of Engomi). Order costumes online from The Carnival Store or Toybox.
  • Limassol: The Carnival Store on Ayias Fylaxeos Street, CXC toy shops in Limassol and Germasogeia, Flying Tiger, Jumbo, and Wolt Market for last-minute sweets.
  • Larnaca: We did not find a dedicated fancy dress shop with a confirmed 2026 presence. Skroutz has its Cyprus warehouse here, and Wolt Market delivers in the city.
  • Paphos: Toybox on Nikou Kazantzaki, and Flying Tiger.
  • Famagusta area (Paralimni, Ayia Napa, Protaras): We could not confirm a costume shop here, so order online. Jumbo announced plans in 2025 for a future store in Protaras.

Our supermarkets guide covers where to shop for food and treats.

Where can you get pumpkins?

  • CyHerbia, Avgorou. The botanical park has its own pumpkin patch, according to Cyprus Mail, and its Halloween Festival on 31 October and 1 November 2026 offers reserved carving stations, booked online. See our events page.
  • Village pumpkin festivals. The Kolotzi (pumpkin) Festival in Moutoullas, in the Marathasa valley, is on Sunday 18 October 2026.
  • To carve at home. We could not confirm which supermarkets stock carving pumpkins this year, and we found no pick-your-own pumpkin farm in Cyprus. Ask your greengrocer or municipal market a week or so ahead.

Halloween with children: trick-or-treating and safety

Trick-or-treating. Because Halloween is not a local custom, most neighbours will not be expecting knocks at the door. Children usually trick-or-treat at organised events instead; in 2025, Mall of Cyprus and My Mall Limassol included trick-or-treating in their Halloween festivals. If you want to go door to door, arrange it with neighbours or other families in your street beforehand.

Costume safety. Under the EU Toy Safety Directive, children's costumes count as toys and must carry the CE mark, which covers flammability testing; the European Commission even publishes a guidance document on disguise costumes. Buy from sellers who show the CE mark, and be wary of very cheap unbranded costumes.

After dark. Clocks go back on Sunday 25 October, so it will be dark by early evening on 31 October. Add reflective strips or glow sticks to dark costumes, give children a torch, and walk with younger ones, especially on village roads without pavements. Keep costumes away from candles.

Allergy-friendly treats. The Teal Pumpkin Project, run by the US charity FARE (Food Allergy Research & Education), encourages households to put out a teal pumpkin to show they offer non-food treats. FARE's ideas include glow sticks, stickers, bubbles, spider rings and vampire fangs; keep them in a separate bowl from sweets.

How to save money and waste less

  1. Buy for carnival too. Limassol Carnival 2027 is expected from 4 to 14 March, so choose a costume that works for both. See our Limassol Carnival guide.
  2. Buy and sell second-hand. Children outgrow costumes after one wear; look on Bazaraki and parent groups, and sell yours on afterwards.
  3. Make it yourself. An old white sheet makes a ghost, black clothes and face paint make a cat or skeleton, and cardboard makes masks and props. Our arts and crafts for kids guide has workshop ideas.
  4. Combine orders. One order over a shop's free-delivery threshold is cheaper than several small ones, and with the new €3 duty, fewer item types from non-EU sites mean lower charges.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I buy a Halloween costume in Cyprus?

Carnival and fancy dress specialists such as The Carnival Store in Limassol stock costumes for adults, children and babies, plus wigs, masks and face paints. For children, toy shops such as Toybox in Paphos have Halloween sections, and the Skroutz marketplace lists costumes from many Cypriot and Greek shops.

Where can I buy Halloween decorations in Cyprus?

IKEA's 2026 autumn range, sold at its Nicosia store and on IKEA.com.cy, includes decorative pumpkins, lanterns, candles and lights. Chains such as Jumbo and Flying Tiger Copenhagen are also worth checking for seasonal party goods.

Will I pay customs on a Halloween costume from Shein or Temu?

Goods from outside the EU pay 19% Cypriot VAT however cheap they are, and since 1 July 2026 parcels worth €150 or less also pay a temporary €3 customs duty per item type. Parcels sent from a warehouse in another EU country where duty was already paid are exempt.

Do children trick-or-treat in Cyprus?

Halloween is not a Cypriot tradition, so door-to-door trick-or-treating is not something neighbours generally expect. Many children trick-or-treat at organised family festivals instead, such as the mall events that have offered it in previous years.

Where can I get a pumpkin to carve in Cyprus?

CyHerbia Botanical Park in Avgorou has its own pumpkin patch and offers reserved carving stations at its Halloween Festival on 31 October and 1 November 2026. For a pumpkin to carve at home, ask your greengrocer or municipal market early, as we could not confirm which supermarkets stock carving pumpkins this year.

Are Halloween costumes safe for children?

Children's costumes sold in the EU count as toys and must carry the CE mark, which covers flammability tests. Keep children away from candles and open flames anyway, and choose face paint over masks that limit vision.
