Advertising and Sponsored Content Terms

These terms apply to every paid promotion on Expatify, including display banners, topic and events calendar sponsorships, sponsored or tailored articles, newsletter sponsor blocks, featured events, featured directory listings, one-page info sites and social media posts ("advertising"). They add to our general Terms and Conditions and, for directory products, to our Directory Terms and Conditions. Prices, what is included and renewal details are shown on our Advertise with Expatify page and at checkout.

1. Who we are

Expatify is operated by Drakestar Ventures Ltd, a company registered in Cyprus under number HE469158. Full details are in our Legal Notice.

2. For readers: how advertising works on Expatify

• Advertising pays for the guide, so it stays free to read.
• Sponsored content is always labelled, for example "Sponsored", "Featured", "Presented by" or "Paid for by", so you can tell it apart from our editorial content. Affiliate links are explained in our Affiliate Disclosure.
• Advertisers do not decide what our guides say. Our Editorial Policy explains how we keep advertising separate from editorial content.
• An ad is not an endorsement. We check advertising material before it goes online, but we do not test or guarantee the products, services, prices or claims of advertisers. Any contract you make with an advertiser is between you and them.

3. For advertisers: who can advertise

Advertising is offered to businesses and organisations, not to consumers acting for personal purposes. By buying advertising, you confirm that you act for a business and have authority to accept these terms on its behalf.

We may refuse any advertising, for example if it does not fit our readers or our editorial standards. We do not accept advertising for gambling, adult services, weapons, tobacco or vaping products, unregulated financial or investment products, cryptocurrency schemes, pyramid or multi-level marketing schemes, or political campaigns, or for anything that is illegal in Cyprus.

4. Your responsibilities as an advertiser

You are solely responsible for your advertising material and for the products and services it promotes. You confirm that:

• your material is accurate, not misleading and complies with Cyprus and EU law, including consumer protection, unfair commercial practices, advertising, price display, data protection and sector-specific rules (for example for financial services, health, alcohol, food, real estate and legal services);
• you hold any licence or registration your business needs, and you will show it in your material where the law requires;
• you own, or have permission to use, all text, images, logos, trade marks, music and video you send us, and our use of them as agreed will not infringe anyone's rights;
• any landing pages you link to are safe, work properly and comply with the law;
• any offer, discount or competition you promote will be honoured on the terms shown.

5. Approval and labelling

All advertising material is reviewed before it goes online, usually within one working day. We may ask for changes, or refuse material that is inaccurate, misleading, unsuitable or that breaks these terms. Changes to approved material are reviewed in the same way.

We decide how advertising is labelled and where it appears. Sponsored articles are written or edited to our editorial standards and carry a clear sponsorship label. Links in advertising may carry technical tags (such as "sponsored") as search engines require.

6. Payment, renewal and cancellation

Payment is due in advance through our secure payment page. Prices, periods and any automatic renewal are shown before you pay. You can cancel automatic renewal at any time in your account; what you have paid for stays active until the end of the period. Unless these terms, your order or the law say otherwise, payments are not refundable once the advertising has started.

If we cannot deliver advertising you have paid for because of a reason within our control, we will offer you the same placement at another time or a refund of the part not delivered. Traffic, clicks, enquiries and sales are never guaranteed: figures in our media information are estimates.

7. Removal

We may pause or remove any advertising, without refund, if it breaks these terms or the law, if we receive a well-founded complaint or an order from an authority, or if we reasonably believe it harms our readers or our reputation. Where the problem can be fixed, we will first ask you to fix it, unless it is serious or urgent.

8. Liability

To the extent the law allows:

• Expatify is not liable for the content of advertising, for advertisers' products, services or conduct, or for any loss a reader suffers by relying on an ad or dealing with an advertiser;
• Expatify is not liable to advertisers for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, business, revenue or goodwill;
• Expatify's total liability to an advertiser for all claims linked to an order is limited to the amount the advertiser paid for that order in the 12 months before the claim.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or any other liability that cannot be limited by law.

9. Indemnity

You agree to cover the reasonable costs, losses and legal claims that Expatify suffers because your advertising material, your landing pages, your products or services, or your conduct broke these terms or the law, or infringed someone's rights, including reasonable legal fees.

10. Law and courts

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Cyprus, and the courts of Cyprus have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes between Expatify and advertisers.
