Quick answer
Black Friday in Cyprus falls on Friday 27 November 2026 and Cyber Monday on 30 November, but many retailers run offers for the whole week or longer. In 2025, Stephanis, Kotsovolos, Public, Electroline, Bionic, IKEA, Skroutz and malls such as My Mall Limassol and the Mall of Cyprus all took part, with typical discounts of 20–30%. By law a discount must be measured against the lowest price of the previous 30 days, and since 1 July 2026 orders from outside the EU under €150 pay a €3 customs duty per product category on top of 19% VAT.
- Black Friday is Friday 27 November 2026 and Cyber Monday is 30 November; many Cypriot shops start their offers days earlier.

- A shop must base its 'was' price on the lowest price it charged in the previous 30 days.

- Online purchases from EU sellers come with a 14-day right of withdrawal and a two-year legal guarantee.
Black Friday in Cyprus is on Friday 27 November 2026, with Cyber Monday on 30 November, but most big retailers stretch their offers across the whole week. Expect discounts of around 20–30% in Cypriot shops, check that the "was" price is genuine, and remember that orders from outside the EU now cost more because of the €3 duty introduced on 1 July 2026.
Here we cover when the deals start, which shops took part in 2025, what you really pay when ordering from abroad, and the rights you have if something goes wrong.
When do Black Friday deals start in Cyprus?
The official day is the Friday after US Thanksgiving, but in Cyprus it has grown into a week, and for some chains a month-long "Black November". Last year's patterns are the best guide:
| Retailer or platform | What happened in 2025 |
|---|---|
| IKEA Cyprus | Black Friday prices ran from Monday 24 to Sunday 30 November in the Nicosia store, the Limassol Plan & Order point and the e-shop |
| Skroutz.cy | Measured its Black Friday week as 24–30 November; it also ran prize promotions from mid-November |
| My Mall Limassol | A three-day Black Friday weekend, with "hot deals" revealed on the Thursday evening |
| Electronics chains | Stephanis, Kotsovolos, Public, Electroline and Bionic ran multi-day campaigns with vouchers and dedicated web pages |
For 2026 that points to offers from around Monday 23 November, with some online-only deals continuing to Cyber Monday on 30 November. Sign up to newsletters or apps in early November if you want early access.
Which shops in Cyprus take part?
Black Friday has been a fixture in Cyprus since around 2017. Retailers we could confirm took part in 2025:
| Shop | What it sells | Where | Website |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stephanis | Electronics, appliances, gaming | Stores in every district, plus online | stephanis.com.cy |
| Kotsovolos | Electronics and appliances | Stores and online | kotsovolos.cy |
| Public | Tech, books, toys, appliances | Stores and online | public.cy |
| Electroline | Electronics, appliances, toys, DIY | Stores and online | electroline.cy |
| Bionic | Computers and tech | Stores and online | bionic.com.cy |
| IKEA | Furniture and homeware | Nicosia store, Limassol Plan & Order point, online | ikea.com.cy |
| Skroutz | Price comparison and marketplace | Online, with Skroutz Point lockers | skroutz.cy |
| My Mall Limassol | Mall with fashion, beauty and more | Limassol | mymall.com.cy |
| Mall of Cyprus | Mall with fashion, homeware and restaurants | Nicosia | themallofcyprus.com |
The Mall of Cyprus said some 2025 discounts reached 60%, while Kings Avenue Mall in Paphos has run Black Friday events in previous years; check each mall's website closer to the date. Skroutz says its Black Friday turnover in Cyprus almost doubled in 2025, and technology was its biggest category.
Be realistic about the size of the savings. The Cyprus Retail Association expected the usual 20–30% in 2025, with 35–40% or more mostly on older models. Shopkeepers' union POVEK and the Cyprus Consumers Association both said many chains kept new products out of the sale ahead of Christmas.
Are shops open longer on Black Friday?
There is no special Black Friday trading law. Under Cyprus's general shop hours, shops can open roughly 07:00–21:00 Monday to Saturday, with later, shorter hours on Sundays, according to Visit Cyprus. Malls set their own hours within these limits: My Mall Limassol, for example, lists shop hours of 10:00–20:00 Monday to Saturday and 11:00–19:30 on Sunday. Some shops add late openings for the event, so check the retailer's website or social media that week.
How do you know a discount is real?
Under Article 45 of Cyprus's consumer protection law (Law 112(I)/2021), which follows the EU Omnibus Directive, any announced price reduction must be calculated from the lowest price the trader charged in the previous 30 days. If a TV sold for €300 in October, dropped to €250 in early November and is now "€200", the real discount is 20%, not 33%.
To protect yourself:
- Screenshot prices now. Note the price of anything you plan to buy in late October and early November.
- Compare on Skroutz. It shows the same product across many Cypriot shops, which quickly exposes a padded "was" price.
- Read the small print. "Up to 70% off" may apply to a handful of items. The Consumers Association says a headline discount should apply to a meaningful share of the products.
- Keep your receipt and check the discount was actually applied at the till.
If you spot a misleading offer, report it to the Consumer Protection Service on its free helpline 1429 or through the gov.cy complaint form. Photos of the shelf label or web page make a complaint much stronger.
What do you pay when ordering online from abroad?
Where the parcel ships from matters more than where the company is based.
| Order shipped from | VAT | Customs duty | Other charges |
|---|---|---|---|
| Another EU country (e.g. amazon.de, amazon.it) | Included in the price | None | None |
| Outside the EU, including the UK, under €150 | 19%, at checkout (IOSS) or on arrival | €3 per product category since 1 July 2026 | Courier or Cyprus Post fee if cleared on arrival |
| Outside the EU, over €150 | 19% | Normal EU tariff rate | Customs declaration through an agent may be needed |
The €3 duty in practice
The €3 is charged per type of product, not per piece. Five identical T-shirts count once (€3); a T-shirt, a pair of shoes and a handbag count three times (€9). VAT is then worked out on the total including the duty. The Customs Department says the €3 is not refunded if you simply return the item, only for faulty goods or goods that do not match the order. The measure runs until 1 July 2028.
If the parcel comes by Cyprus Post
Cyprus Post charges a customs presentation fee of €3.50 per item (as listed on its website in October 2026) on top of any VAT and duty. You get an SMS or printed notice, and you can pay online through THALIS, often before the parcel even lands, which can allow home delivery. If you paid VAT at checkout under IOSS and are charged again, Cyprus Post has a refund procedure. Couriers such as ACS and DHL charge their own handling fees, so check them before choosing delivery.
Amazon has no Cyprus store, so most people order from its EU sites. Check that the item says it ships to Cyprus, and watch for third-party sellers shipping from outside the EU. For the full customs picture, see our guide to sending parcels to and from Cyprus, and the Customs Department's e-commerce by post FAQ.
What are your rights if something goes wrong?
- 14-day right of withdrawal. Online and phone purchases from EU traders can be cancelled within 14 days of delivery, without a reason. The Consumers Association warns that this is very hard to enforce against platforms based outside the EU.
- No automatic returns in shops. A physical shop only has to take back a non-faulty item if it has its own returns policy. IKEA, for example, applied its returns window to Black Friday buys at the discounted price.
- Two-year legal guarantee. Faulty goods must be repaired, replaced or refunded, sale or no sale.
- Cross-border problems with EU sellers go to the European Consumer Centre Cyprus.
Our guide to making a consumer complaint in Cyprus walks through each step.
How do you pay safely?
- Pay by card, ideally credit, so you can ask your bank for a chargeback if goods never arrive. Avoid bank transfers to unknown sellers.
- Be wary of shops that only talk through Viber or Messenger, or whose websites have no company name, address or terms. The Consumers Association flagged both in 2025.
- Ignore "customs fee" or "delivery problem" texts with links. Cyprus Post has repeatedly warned about fake SMS messages and Facebook posts using its name. Check parcels on the official website instead.
- Approve payments only in your banking app, and never share one-time passcodes.
- Watch your budget. Black Friday falls at the end of the month, just before Christmas spending starts, and buy-now-pay-later offers can add up quickly.
What to do next
- Make a shortlist and screenshot today's prices.
- Check where each online seller ships from and whether VAT and duty are included.
- Save the retailers' Black Friday pages from the links above and check them from 23 November.

When is Black Friday 2026 in Cyprus?
Black Friday is on Friday 27 November 2026 and Cyber Monday on Monday 30 November. In 2025 several big retailers, including IKEA and Skroutz, ran their campaigns from Monday to Sunday of Black Friday week, so expect offers from around 23 November.
Which shops in Cyprus do Black Friday?
In 2025 the electronics chains Stephanis, Kotsovolos, Public, Electroline and Bionic ran multi-day campaigns, IKEA offered discounts from 24 to 30 November, and malls such as My Mall Limassol and the Mall of Cyprus promoted deals across their stores. Skroutz.cy also gathers offers from many local shops.
Do I pay customs on Black Friday orders from Amazon UK?
Usually yes. Goods shipped from the UK are imports from outside the EU, so 19% VAT applies at any value, plus a €3 duty per product category on parcels under €150 since 1 July 2026, unless the seller collected these at checkout. Items shipped from Amazon's EU stores, such as amazon.de or amazon.it, pay no customs charges.
Can I return something I bought in a Black Friday sale in Cyprus?
If you bought online or by phone from an EU trader, you can cancel within 14 days of delivery without giving a reason. In a physical shop, you can only return a non-faulty item if the shop has its own returns policy, so check it before you pay. Faulty goods are covered by the two-year legal guarantee whether or not they were on sale.
How do I know if a Black Friday discount is real in Cyprus?
The discount must be calculated from the lowest price the shop charged in the 30 days before the offer. Take screenshots of prices you are watching in early November, compare on Skroutz, and report misleading offers to the Consumer Protection Service on its free 1429 helpline.
