Quick answer

In winter 2026-27 the only direct flights between Cyprus and the UAE are Larnaca (LCA) to Dubai International (DXB), flown by Emirates, which lists seven flights a week, and Cyprus Airways, which Cyprus Mail reported in August 2026 as flying daily. The flight takes about 3 hours 25 minutes eastbound and 3 hours 45 minutes to 4 hours back, according to Emirates. Paphos has no UAE flights, and Wizz Air has cancelled its Larnaca–Abu Dhabi route for the winter season. The UAE is two hours ahead of Cyprus from 25 October 2026 to 28 March 2027 and one hour ahead in summer.

  • Emirates flies Dubai–Larnaca seven times a week (EK109/EK110, continuing to Malta), arriving at and leaving from Terminal 3 at Dubai International.
  • Cyprus Airways flies Larnaca–Dubai from Terminal 1 at DXB; it resumed the route on 1 May 2026 with three flights a week, and Cyprus Mail's report on its winter 2026-27 schedule describes Dubai as daily.
  • There are no direct flights from Paphos to the UAE, and none to Abu Dhabi or Sharjah this winter: Wizz Air cancelled all its Abu Dhabi and Dubai flights for 25 October 2026 to 27 March 2027.
  • Gulf flights were disrupted in March 2026 by the regional conflict; Emirates had resumed daily Larnaca flights by 9 March, but airspace restrictions still lengthen some routings.
  • The UAE's telecoms regulator TDRA says internet calling apps it has not licensed or approved are very likely illegal to use for calls in the UAE; it publishes a list of approved apps.

Flying between Cyprus and Dubai is simple once you know there is really only one route: Larnaca to Dubai International, with Emirates and Cyprus Airways. This guide covers the winter 2026-27 schedule (late October 2026 to March 2027), which airports to use at each end, how 2026's regional disruption has affected flights, and how to keep your phone, apps and UAE number working on both sides. It is part of our complete guide to moving from Dubai to Cyprus.

All flight details below were checked on the airlines' and airports' own sites as of October 2026. Schedules in this region can change at short notice, so always confirm with the airline before you travel.

Which airlines fly direct between Cyprus and the UAE this winter?

Two, and both use the same airports: Larnaca (LCA) and Dubai International (DXB).

Airline Route Winter 2026-27 Dubai terminal Source
Emirates Dubai – Larnaca (continues to Malta) 7 flights a week, Boeing 777 shown; A350 planned from January 2027 at the earliest Terminal 3 Emirates route page; Dubai Airports; AeroRoutes (9 Oct 2026)
Cyprus Airways Larnaca – Dubai Reported as daily for winter by Cyprus Mail (August 2026); confirm days in its schedule tool; fares on sale for every month to March 2027 Terminal 1 Cyprus Mail (19 Aug 2026); Cyprus Airways fares page; Dubai Airports
Wizz Air Larnaca – Abu Dhabi Cancelled for 25 Oct 2026 – 27 Mar 2027 – The National (8 Oct 2026)

Emirates lists flight EK109 leaving Dubai in the morning (07:35 or 07:55 on the days shown) and arriving in Larnaca mid-morning, and EK110 leaving Larnaca in the evening (19:25 or 20:25) and landing in Dubai just before 01:00 the next morning. Its FAQ says it "currently operates 7 flights per week", which may vary by season. The same aircraft continues from Larnaca to Malta, which is why the timings are tied to that onward leg. AeroRoutes reported on 9 October 2026 that Emirates had pushed back the switch to a newer Airbus A350 on this route to 1 January 2027 at the earliest.

Cyprus Airways launched Dubai in 2023, landing at DXB Terminal 1, according to Dubai Airports. After a suspension earlier in 2026, it restarted on 1 May 2026 with three flights a week for the summer (Cyprus Mail, 29 April 2026). In August 2026, Cyprus Mail's report on its winter schedule said it operates daily scheduled flights to Dubai, Tel Aviv and Beirut. When we checked on 20 October 2026, its Dubai–Larnaca page showed round-trip economy fares from €380 for travel between October 2026 and March 2027, with a note that fares are collected within the last 48 hours and may change. Use its flight schedule tool to see the days and times for your dates.

How long is the flight from Larnaca to Dubai?

Emirates shows 3 hours 25 to 3 hours 30 minutes from Larnaca to Dubai, and 3 hours 45 minutes to 4 hours 5 minutes from Dubai to Larnaca, depending on the day. Allow for the time difference when you plan: an evening departure from Larnaca lands in Dubai after midnight local time.

What happened to Gulf flights in 2026, and have they resumed?

In early March 2026, the conflict involving the US, Israel and Iran shut down much of the Gulf's air traffic. TTG Asia reported on 4 March that Emirates, flydubai and Etihad were running only limited flights after the regional airspace disruption, and Khaleej Times reported that Dubai International briefly halted operations again on 7 March after debris from an interception fell near the airport. Flights to and from Cyprus were suspended at the same time.

Hermes Airports, which runs Larnaca and Paphos, said on 9 March 2026 that Emirates had resumed its daily Larnaca–Dubai service, while flights to Qatar, Bahrain, Lebanon and Israel were still cancelled. Cyprus Airways followed on 1 May.

The effects have not fully gone away. According to The National (8 October 2026), Wizz Air cancelled all its Abu Dhabi and Dubai flights for the winter season, blaming regional airspace restrictions, extended on 30 September, that force much longer routings. That includes the Larnaca–Abu Dhabi route it had announced for 27 October (Cyprus Mail, 8 September 2026). If you are booking for a fixed date, such as a move or a school start, choose a ticket you can change, and check your government's travel advice.

Larnaca or Paphos: which Cyprus airport should you use?

For Dubai, Larnaca is the only option. Hermes Airports' March 2026 route list showed Emirates as the only UAE airline at Larnaka and no Gulf routes at all from Pafos.

Larnaca (LCA) Paphos (PFO)
Direct UAE flights Yes: Emirates and Cyprus Airways to Dubai None
Best for Nicosia, Larnaca, Limassol, Ayia Napa Paphos and the west
Getting to the other airport Kapnos services link the two airports, sometimes with a change Kapnos services link the two airports, sometimes with a change
Operator Hermes Airports Hermes Airports

If you live in Paphos, plan on the road trip or shuttle to Larnaca. Parking, drop-off rules, buses and taxis at both airports are in our guide to Larnaca and Paphos airports, and island-wide buses are in public transport in Cyprus.

DXB, DWC, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah: which UAE airport?

UAE airport Flights to Cyprus, winter 2026-27 Notes
Dubai International (DXB) Yes: Emirates (Terminal 3), Cyprus Airways (Terminal 1) Dubai Metro serves Terminals 1 and 3
Dubai World Central (DWC) None direct Dubai Airports lists flydubai as using DXB Terminals 2 and 3 and DWC
Abu Dhabi (AUH) None: Wizz Air's route cancelled for the winter Drive or bus to DXB
Sharjah (SHJ) None direct Drive to DXB

We found no direct flydubai, Etihad or Air Arabia flights to Larnaca or Paphos. If you live in Abu Dhabi or the northern emirates, the practical choice is DXB. Check the Dubai Airports airline directory for the terminal before you set off, because Cyprus Airways and Emirates use different terminals.

Can you connect beyond Dubai or Larnaca on one ticket?

Yes, in two common ways. Emirates sells connections from Larnaca through Dubai to its wider network, and its daily flight continues from Larnaca to Malta. Since May 2026, Cyprus Airways and flydubai have had an interline agreement, so you can book Larnaca to destinations such as Muscat, Kuwait City, Riyadh, Jeddah, Malé, Kathmandu, Colombo and Almaty on one ticket via DXB (Cyprus Mail, 23 May 2026). Ask the airline how your bags are handled at Dubai before you book a tight connection.

What is the time difference between Cyprus and Dubai?

The UAE stays on Gulf Standard Time, UTC+4, all year, with no daylight saving. Cyprus is on UTC+2 in winter and UTC+3 in summer.

Period Cyprus UAE Dubai is…
25 October 2026 – 28 March 2027 UTC+2 UTC+4 2 hours ahead
From 28 March 2027 (summer) UTC+3 UTC+4 1 hour ahead

That matters for work calls with a Dubai office or clients, so agree meeting times in both time zones and add the UAE as a second clock on your phone.

What do you need to enter the UAE or Cyprus?

Entry rules depend on your passport, not on where you live.

  • Into the UAE: GCC citizens need no visa. Citizens of several countries get a visa on arrival and others must apply in advance, and your passport must be valid for at least six months from the date of entry, according to the official portal u.ae. The list of countries can change, so check u.ae, your airline or the UAE embassy before every trip. If you still hold a UAE residence visa, Dubai's GDRFA and the federal ICP handle it.
  • Into Cyprus: Cyprus is in the EU but not in Schengen, so there is a passport or ID check on every flight. UAE, EU and UK nationals do not need a visa for a short stay; Indian, Pakistani, Filipino, Russian, Egyptian and many other nationals do. Our guide to Cyprus visas and residence permits for people moving from Dubai sets this out by nationality, and ETIAS and the Entry/Exit System explains the new EU border systems.

Should you keep your UAE phone number?

Most people moving to Cyprus keep their UAE number for at least a few weeks, because UAE banks and services send one-time passwords by SMS while deposits, gratuity and refunds come through.

  • e& (Etisalat): offers prepaid customers a pack to keep the number for 30 or 60 days; postpaid customers must switch to prepaid first, and cancellation should be requested at least 48 hours before departure. Details are on e&'s Leaving the UAE page and in our guide to closing your life in Dubai.
  • du: publishes its roaming plans on du.ae; check its current terms for keeping a prepaid line active while you are abroad before you cancel anything.
  • Roaming on your UAE SIM in Cyprus is charged as international roaming, so buy a roaming pack before you leave or keep the line only for incoming SMS.
  • UAE Pass is the UAE's mobile-based government login (u.ae). Before you change number or phone, make sure you can still sign in.

Before you change the mobile number on your UAE bank accounts, read moving money from the UAE to Cyprus.

Can you use WhatsApp and FaceTime calls in the UAE?

The UAE's Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) says internet voice and video calls through an app that is not licensed, provided with a UAE licensee or approved by TDRA are "very likely" illegal, and it urges people not to use them. Its FAQs link to the list of approved apps. Gulf News (updated September 2024) lists licensed options including BOTIM, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Google Meet, Skype for Business and Webex.

This is a UAE rule. When you call family or colleagues still in Dubai from Cyprus, the simplest options are one of the approved apps or an ordinary call to their UAE number.

Does your Cyprus SIM work in the UAE?

Yes, but the UAE is outside the EU, so EU "roam like at home" rules do not apply and roaming is charged at international rates. Check your provider's roaming page before you fly:

  • Cyta applies a default €50 monthly limit to mobile internet roaming outside the EU, sends a warning at €40 and cuts data at €50 unless you raise the limit (for example by texting "ON RL 100" to 8000), as of October 2026.
  • Epic, PrimeTel and Cablenet have their own roaming tariffs; compare them with our guide to home internet and mobile phones in Cyprus.
  • A travel eSIM with a data plan for the UAE is an alternative if your phone supports eSIM: you keep your Cyprus number on the physical SIM for calls and texts and use the eSIM for data.

Staying connected: checklist before you fly

Decide whether to keep your UAE number, and switch to prepaid if needed Bank OTPs, refunds, UAE Pass
