Quick answer
Winter is the main cultural season in Cyprus. The Cyprus Theatre Organisation (THOC) in Nicosia adds English and Turkish surtitles to selected performances and tours its shows to Limassol, Larnaca and Paphos; the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra plays in Nicosia, Limassol and Larnaca; and Rialto and Pattihio in Limassol host music, dance and touring shows. Most performances are in Greek or are music, so check for surtitles. When we checked on 19 October 2026, the December to February programmes of most venues, the orchestra and the English-language pantomime groups had not been published yet.
- THOC's Murder on the Orient Express (from 3 October 2026) and Frost/Nixon (from 7 November 2026) run in Nicosia; THOC puts English and Turkish surtitles on selected dates, which it lists on each show's page.
- THOC's children's play Little Red Riding Hood has English and Turkish surtitles on Saturday 21 November 2026 in Limassol and on Sunday 6 December 2026.
- The Cyprus Symphony Orchestra had published no concerts after 16 October 2026 and no festive concerts when we checked on 19 October 2026; its January–February 2026 programme came out on 19 December 2025.
- Stage One Theatre in Emba, Paphos, has staged an English-language Christmas pantomime every December; its 2026 show had not been announced on 19 October 2026.
- Tickets are sold through each venue's own system (tickets.thoc.org.cy, rialto.interticket.com, cyso.interticket.com, pattihio.com.cy) and platforms such as Soldout Ticketbox and Ticketmaster Cyprus.

We're waiting for the 2026–27 season dates. Leave your email and we'll send you this guide once, as soon as it's updated. Nothing else.
Yes, you can enjoy theatre, concerts and even some opera in Cyprus this winter without speaking Greek. The best options are the Cyprus Theatre Organisation's English-surtitled performances, the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra's concerts, the music and dance programmes at Rialto and Pattihio in Limassol, and the English-language Christmas pantomime in Paphos.
Last checked: 19 October 2026. Most venues publish their programme month by month, so the December 2026 to February 2027 line-ups were mostly not out yet. Where a programme is missing we say so, and we show what happened last winter only as a guide to what to expect, not as confirmed 2026–27 dates. For dated listings as they are announced, browse our Cyprus events calendar.

Which shows have English surtitles?
The Cyprus Theatre Organisation (THOC), the national theatre company, performs in Greek but adds English and Turkish surtitles to selected performances of its main productions. The surtitled dates are listed on each production's page under "Surtitles", so check there before you book. THOC posts on Instagram as @th.o.c.
What is on at THOC this autumn and winter?
Its 2026–27 season, announced in July 2026, runs until May 2027. On 19 October 2026 three productions were on its "now playing" page:
- Murder on the Orient Express, Agatha Christie in Ken Ludwig's stage version, back for a second season on the Main Stage from Saturday 3 October 2026.
- Little Red Riding Hood, a new children's play on Stage 018, on Sundays at 10:30 in Nicosia from 18 October 2026, touring to Paphos (7 November), Larnaca (14 November) and Limassol (Saturday 21 November at 15:00). The performances on 21 November and Sunday 6 December have English and Turkish surtitles.
- Frost/Nixon by Peter Morgan, on the New Stage from Saturday 7 November 2026.
THOC has also announced Wuthering Heights and Chekhov's The Seagull, staged inside its own building, for this season, but without dates when we checked. Surtitled dates for the winter shows had not all been posted either.
How did it work last winter?
As a guide to the pattern, in 2025–26 Murder on the Orient Express opened in Nicosia in November, played at the Latsia–Geri Municipal Theatre before Christmas, then toured to the Markideio Theatre in Paphos (3 January 2026), the G. Lykourgos Municipal Theatre in Larnaca (9–10 January) and the Pattihio in Limassol (23–24 January). It had English and Turkish surtitles on 28 November 2025 in Nicosia and 24 January 2026 in Limassol. So if you live outside Nicosia, a surtitled date on tour is quite possible, but there may be only one.
Buying THOC tickets
Tickets are sold online at tickets.thoc.org.cy and through the box office (77772717, boxoffice@thoc.org.cy), which THOC lists as open Tuesday to Saturday, 10:00–13:30 and 16:00–18:00. Book early for the surtitled dates, as there are only a few.
When does the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra play in winter?
The Cyprus Symphony Orchestra (CySO) is the national orchestra. Its 2026–27 season opened with Starlight 1, a programme of Saint-Saëns and Bizet's Carmen suites with pianist George-Emmanuel Lazaridis, at the Nicosia Municipal Theatre on 15 October and at the Pattihio in Limassol on 16 October 2026.
No later concerts and no festive concerts were listed on its website when we checked on 19 October 2026. It publishes its programme in two-month blocks: last year the January–February 2026 programme was announced on 19 December 2025. That programme included concerts at the Pattihio and the Nicosia Municipal Theatre in mid-January, several at the Pallas Theatre in Nicosia, two at the G. Lykourgos Municipal Theatre in Larnaca and a free family concert in Idalion (Dali) at the end of February. Concerts usually start at 20:00 or 20:30.
At Christmas 2025 the orchestra gave a family concert, Suzy's Christmas Journey: A World of Carols, at Rialto in Limassol on 12 December. Look out for something similar in 2026 from late November.
Tickets are sold through cyso.interticket.com, with the box office opening 90 minutes before each concert; for its September 2026 opera finalists' concert, seats cost €10 to €18. For information call 22 463144. The orchestra is on Instagram as @cyprussymphony.
Where can you see opera in Cyprus in winter?
Honestly, winter is not opera season. Most opera is staged in late summer and early autumn: in 2026 the orchestra played Donizetti's L'Elisir d'Amore at the Pafos Aphrodite Festival at Paphos Castle on 4 and 5 September, the Cyprus Opera Society staged the same opera at the Pattihio on 13 and 15 September, and opera singer Aida Garifulina sang with the orchestra at Kourion on 9 and 10 October.
In winter, opera tends to appear as opera galas, arias in orchestra programmes and children's operas. In December 2025, for example, Rialto staged a children's opera, The Princess and the Pea. Check the CySO, Pattihio and Rialto programmes from November.
What's on in Limassol: Rialto and Pattihio
Rialto Theatre
Rialto Theatre, on Heroes Square (Andrea Drousioti Street), is Limassol's main cultural venue for music, dance and contemporary theatre. On 19 October 2026 its website listed shows only until 29 October; the November and December programmes were not yet out.
Last December gives a good idea of the season. In December 2025 Rialto hosted the Cyprus Jazz & World Music Showcase, a flamenco Christmas zambomba, a big-band Christmas concert by the Cyprus Collective Big Band, a broadcast of André Rieu's Christmas concert, the orchestra's family concert and a touring Greek-language play from Nicosia's Satiriko Theatre. Music and dance nights are the easiest choice if you don't speak Greek. Our December guide lists the Rialto dates already confirmed for December 2026.
Tickets are sold online at rialto.interticket.com and at the box office (77777745), open Monday to Friday, 10:00–15:00, opening an hour earlier on performance days. Rialto is on Instagram as @rialto.theatre.cy.
Pattihio Municipal Theatre
The Pattihio, at 4 Agias Zonis Street, is Limassol Municipality's 740-seat theatre, the largest in the district. It hosts the orchestra and THOC on tour, plus international touring shows, musicals and concerts. Shows by outside promoters are often sold through Soldout Ticketbox or Ticketmaster rather than the theatre's own site. The box office (25377277, box@pattihio.com.cy) is open Monday to Friday, 10:00–13:00 and 16:00–19:00, and Saturday 10:00–13:00.
Are there English pantomimes and plays at Christmas?
Yes, from the English-speaking amateur groups, though none had announced a 2026 show when we checked on 19 October 2026. They usually announce their December productions in November.
- Stage One Theatre, Emba (Paphos): an English-language group with its own theatre in Emba. Its pantomime is a December fixture: Rumpelstiltskin ran on 3–7 December 2024 and Old Mother Hubbard on 9–13 December 2025 at 19:30, with tickets at €15 for adults and €8 for children, sold on its website and at the theatre.
- Nicosia: in December 2024 the Anglo Cypriot Theatre staged The Little Mermaid in English at the Satiriko Theatre, with tickets through Ticketmaster Cyprus. We could not find a 2025 production, so watch the listings.
For other family shows and Christmas events, see our guide to Christmas with kids in Cyprus.
How do you buy tickets in Cyprus?
There is no single national box office. Each venue sells through its own system or through a ticketing platform chosen by the promoter:
| Platform | Used by |
|---|---|
| tickets.thoc.org.cy | Cyprus Theatre Organisation |
| rialto.interticket.com | Rialto Theatre, Limassol |
| cyso.interticket.com | Cyprus Symphony Orchestra |
| pattihio.com.cy | Pattihio Municipal Theatre |
| Soldout Ticketbox and Ticketmaster Cyprus | Touring shows, concerts and some amateur productions |
A few tips:
- Check the language first. Plays are normally in Greek unless the listing says otherwise; look for "surtitles" (υπέρτιτλοι) and "English".
- Follow the venues on Instagram. Monthly programmes often appear there before the websites are updated.
- Book Christmas shows early. Family concerts and pantos in December sell out, and small venues have few seats.
- Allow time to park. Old Nicosia around Paphos Gate and central Limassol near Heroes Square are busy on December evenings.
What to do next
- Bookmark the THOC what's on page and check each show's surtitled dates.
- Check the orchestra's concerts page and Rialto's programme from late November for December and January.
- If you want a panto, keep an eye on Stage One Theatre's website in November.
