Best Parks and Playgrounds for Kids in Paphos

Child on a swing in a sunny park

Quick answer

The best place to play in Paphos is the Park of Colours, a large municipal park that opened in 2025 with playgrounds, a skatepark and a climbing wall. For the seaside, use the Kato Paphos promenade for scooters, the playground at Geroskipou Municipal Beach and the calm, shallow water at Vrysoudia beach. The coastal path north through Chloraka and Kissonerga to Agios Georgios in Peyia is good for family walks, and the Municipal Garden behind the Town Hall is a shady stop in the old town.

  • The Park of Colours, at the junction of Ellados and Evagoras Pallikarides avenues, is the largest park in Paphos, with playgrounds, a skatepark, a climbing wall and a café.
  • The renovated Kato Paphos promenade runs for about 4 km along the sea and suits scooters, buggies and evening walks.
  • Geroskipou Municipal Beach has a children's playground, lifeguards in season, toilets and parking.
  • A coastal path links Kato Paphos with Agios Georgios harbour in Peyia, passing the Chloraka and Kissonerga coast.
  • Beyond the parks: Ithaki Amusement Park and Marios Golf Park for mini golf, Pafos Zoo, Aphrodite Waterpark, Playland, Little Den Playroom and Cosmic World bowling.
  • Avakas Gorge has been closed since December 2025 because of rockfall risk, so check official news before planning a visit.
  • Shade is limited at most seafront spots, so plan summer play for early morning or after 6pm.

Paphos is a relaxed place to bring up young children. Distances are short, the seafront is long and flat, and in the last few years the municipality has invested heavily in new green spaces. The main thing to plan around is the sun: many of the best spots are by the sea with little natural shade.

Here are the parks, playgrounds and seafront spots families in Paphos use most.

What is the best park for kids in Paphos?

  • Park of Colours: The biggest park in Paphos, at the junction of Ellados and Evagoras Pallikarides avenues. It opened in May 2025 and covers around 32,000 square metres, with several playgrounds, a skatepark, a climbing wall, sports courts, an aromatic garden and a café. It has its own car park. Good for all ages, from toddlers on the small slides to teenagers on the skate ramps. The trees are still young, so shade is limited for now.
  • Municipal Garden: The leafy garden behind Paphos Town Hall, near Kennedy Square in the old town (Ktima). It has paths, flower beds, benches and mature trees, which makes it one of the coolest outdoor spots in the centre on a hot day. It is more of a stroll-and-snack stop than a big playground, but it pairs well with a visit to the cafés around the square.
  • Children's Park, Konstantinou Kanari Street: A small neighbourhood playground in central Paphos with step-free access. Handy for local families with toddlers rather than as a destination in itself.

Where can families play by the sea in Kato Paphos?

  • Kato Paphos seafront promenade: The renovated coastal promenade runs for about 4 km from the harbour and castle towards the Tombs of the Kings, past the archaeological park. It is wide, paved and lit in the evening, so it works well for buggies, scooters and learner bikes. There is very little shade, so it is best early in the morning or around sunset. Our Kato Paphos area guide covers the area in more detail.
  • Vrysoudia beach: A short, sandy Blue Flag beach in the heart of Kato Paphos, off Poseidonos Avenue. The water is calm and shallow, which suits younger children, and there are lifeguards from April to October, toilets and showers nearby.

Which beaches nearby have playgrounds?

  • Geroskipou Municipal Beach: A long Blue Flag beach just east of Kato Paphos, below Geroskipou. It has a children's playground, lifeguards from April to October, toilets, showers, changing rooms and parking, with tavernas and cafés along the road behind. Umbrellas and sunbeds are available for hire, but there is little natural shade.
  • Coral Bay, Peyia: The best-known sandy beach north of Paphos, in a sheltered bay framed by green headlands. There is no playground on the sand, but the toilets, showers, parking and seasonal lifeguards make it an easy beach day with small children. See our Peyia area guide.

Where can kids walk, cycle and scoot outside the town?

  • Coastal path to Agios Georgios (Peyia): A coastal walking route links Kato Paphos with the harbour at Agios Georgios in Peyia, passing the coast at Chloraka and Kissonerga. The Peyia end has wooden benches, viewpoints and outdoor gym equipment. Much of it is unshaded, so it suits older children on foot or bikes better than toddlers in the midday sun.

Are there new parks coming to Paphos?

Yes, and they are worth watching if you are choosing where to live.

  • Eastern linear park: A long park with playgrounds, sports areas, a café and dog-walking space is planned from the last roundabout on the Limassol motorway to Limnaria in Kato Paphos, running through the Geroskipou side of the city.
  • Kissonerga recreation area: In February 2026, Akamas Municipality appointed designers for a new public space near Potima beach, with a playground, green areas, a sports area and parking.

Neither was open as of October 2026, so check local news before you plan a visit.

Where can kids play in Paphos beyond the public parks?

When you want more than swings and slides, these family venues in and around Paphos were all open in 2026. Prices are the latest we could confirm and are a guide only; where a venue does not publish them, we have left them out.

Theme parks, zoo and water fun

  • Ithaki Amusement Park & Mini Golf, Coral Bay: Three indoor and outdoor play zones on Coral Bay Avenue, with giant inflatables, an indoor playground with slides and ball pits, an 18-hole mini golf course, bumper cars, a mini train, a Ferris wheel and trampolines. There is a café bar for parents. A good evening outing if you live in Peyia or Coral Bay.
  • Pafos Zoo, Peyia: The island's largest licensed zoo, in the hills above Coral Bay, with more than a thousand animals including big cats, elephants, giraffes and rhinos. It began life as a bird park, and its daily parrot and owl shows are still a highlight, along with a petting area, pony rides and a lemur experience (about €5 extra per person). It is buggy-friendly, but plan a morning visit in summer, as shade is limited at midday. Entry: about €9.50 for children, €17.50 for adults (early 2026).
  • Paphos Aphrodite Waterpark, Kato Paphos: The biggest waterpark in the Paphos area, off Poseidonos Avenue, with a lazy river, big slides, a pirate-ship play area for children and a separate pool for under-threes. It opens from April to the autumn. Entry: about €20 for children aged 3 to 11, €36 for adults (one day, 2026); under-threes go free, and a one-day family ticket for two adults and three children is about €115.

Indoor play and bowling

  • Playland, Athinon Avenue: An indoor soft-play maze and gym area, with outdoor trampolines, inflatable slides and a bouncy castle. It runs themed events such as magic shows and karaoke, and is popular for birthday parties.
  • Toy Town, Geroskipou: A role-play town for children opposite Sklavenitis, with themed rooms where kids can be shopkeepers, vets, chefs or firefighters, a sensory area for babies and toddlers, and a café for parents.
  • Little Den Playroom, Kato Paphos: A calm, cosy indoor playroom on Ikarou Street for babies and children up to about six. Handy for younger ones on a hot or wet day.
  • Cosmic World, Apostolou Pavlou Avenue: Bowling lanes, arcade games and activities for mixed ages, good when you have older siblings too.

For more indoor ideas, see our guide to indoor soft play and playgrounds in Cyprus.

Mini golf and horse riding

  • Marios Golf Park, Chloraka: A relaxed golf complex on the coast road towards Coral Bay, with an 18-hole mini golf course, a nine-hole par-three course with clubs provided, a driving range and footgolf. No experience or special clothing needed. Entry: mini golf about €5 per person (2026).
  • Eagle Mountain Ranch, Mesogi: A riding stable a short drive north of Paphos offering countryside trail rides and riding lessons for children. Ask about age limits when you book. Our Mesogi area guide covers the village.

Which historic sites in Paphos work for kids?

Paphos is a UNESCO World Heritage town, and the ancient sites are surprisingly good fun with children if you go early, bring water and keep visits short.

  • Kato Paphos Archaeological Park: Famous for its Roman mosaics of gods, hunters and sea creatures, which children enjoy spotting, plus an ancient theatre (the Odeon) and the ruins of a castle called Saranta Kolones. It is right by the harbour, so it pairs well with an ice cream on the seafront. Entry: about €4.50 for adults (2026).
  • Tombs of the Kings: A vast necropolis of underground tombs carved into the rock, with steps down into courtyards and chambers that older children love to explore. Shade is scarce, so avoid the middle of the day in summer. Entry: about €4.50 for adults (2026). See our Universal area guide for the neighbourhood.
  • Paphos Harbour and Castle: The small medieval fort at the end of the harbour has views from the roof, and the harbourfront is flat and buggy-friendly. Entry to the castle: free for children, about €2.50 for adults (2026).

Can you take a boat trip from Paphos harbour?

Yes. Several operators sail from Paphos harbour in the warmer months, including glass-bottom boat trips that let children see fish and the seabed without getting wet, and longer cruises with swimming stops. Compare what is on offer along the harbourfront or book ahead in high season, and bring hats and sun cream, as there is little shade on deck. Our guide to boat trips and snorkelling in Cyprus has more ideas.

Which nature spots near Paphos suit families?

  • Aphrodite's Rock (Petra tou Romiou): The legendary birthplace of Aphrodite, on the coast road towards Limassol, is one of the most beautiful stretches of shoreline on the island. Children enjoy the pebble beach and the giant sea stacks, but the sea can be rough, so keep a close eye on them in the water.
  • Avakas Gorge: A dramatic gorge on the Akamas peninsula, usually a favourite walk for older children. Note that the trail has been closed by the Forestry Department since December 2025 because of rockfalls and high water, and it was still closed until further notice in spring 2026. Check for official news before you go. Our Avakas Gorge guide has the background.

Practical tips

  • Time it right: From June to September, go to playgrounds before 10am or after 6pm. Slides and climbing frames get very hot in direct sun.
  • Bring your own shade: The Park of Colours, the promenade and most beaches have limited tree cover. A pop-up tent or parasol makes beach days far easier with toddlers.
  • Parking: The Park of Colours has its own car park. In Kato Paphos, seafront parking is tight on summer evenings, so arrive early or walk in.
  • Water and toilets: Bring plenty of water. Beach facilities at Geroskipou, Vrysoudia and Coral Bay are the most reliable toilets near the sea.
  • Winter is a bonus: Paphos has mild, often sunny winters, and November to April is the most comfortable time for long scooter rides along the coast.
