Quick answer

The best beaches in Limassol in 2026 are Pissouri, Kourion and Parekklisia, the district's only three Blue Flag beaches on the July 2026 list, plus Governor's Beach, Lady's Mile, Dasoudi, Akti Olympion, Castella in Agios Tychonas and the quieter bays of Avdimou and Melanda. Most organised beaches have sunbeds, toilets, showers and lifeguards from April to October.

  • Limassol district had only 3 Blue Flag beaches on the July 2026 list (Pissouri, Kourion and Parekklisia), out of 46 in Cyprus.
  • Amathus and Limassol municipalities did not apply for Blue Flags in 2026 after reports of coastal water pollution the previous summer.
  • Akti Olympion A is the only Limassol beach with a Seatrac on the Deputy Ministry of Tourism's July 2026 accessible beaches list.
  • Lady's Mile is a 5 km stretch on the east side of Akrotiri, named after a governor's mare ridden along the shore during British rule.
  • On Visit Cyprus pages, lifeguards at Limassol's organised beaches work from April to October.

Limassol stretches from Governor's Beach in the east to Pissouri in the west, and the Limassol Tourism Board lists 22 beaches along the way, from busy city strips to wide bays below white cliffs. These are the 10 we would pick in 2026, with the facilities each one actually has according to the official Visit Cyprus pages and the Limassol Tourism Board.

What changed for Limassol's beaches in 2026?

Limassol had a quiet year for Blue Flags. On the CYMEPA list reported in July 2026, only three beaches in the district were flying the flag: Pissouri, Kourion (Episkopi) and Parekklisia. According to the national Blue Flag coordinator, the municipalities of Amathus and Limassol decided not to apply after several reports of pollution during the 2025 bathing season. That does not mean the city beaches are closed or unsafe; it means they are not part of the programme this year. Check our Blue Flag beaches guide for the island-wide picture.

Of the five public footpaths to the beach, two have disabled access, and the Deputy Ministry of Tourism lists Pissouri's Mounti beach as fully accessible with a floating wheelchair.

Who it suits: families and anyone who wants a full day out with restaurants and cafés nearby. The beach is often a breeding ground for sea turtles, so respect any marked nests. See our Pissouri area guide.
