The best beaches in Larnaca in 2026 are Finikoudes, Mackenzie and Kastella, the three Blue Flag town beaches on the July 2026 list, plus Yanathes and Pyla on the Dhekelia road, Faros at Pervolia, the small harbour beach at Zygi and the municipal beaches of Alaminos, Voroklini and Ormideia. Larnaca's water is generally calm and shallow, and lifeguards at the main beaches work from June to October.
- Larnaca municipality won 4 Blue Flags in June 2026 (Finikoudes, Kastella, Mackenzie and Yanathes), but only 3 were flying on the July 2026 list.
- All 9 Larnaca district beaches on the Deputy Ministry of Tourism's 2026 fully accessible list have a floating wheelchair.
- In August 2026, only 10 of Larnaca district's 19 lifeguard towers were staffed, according to the Interior Ministry.
- Yanathes (Yiannades) is described by the Larnaka Tourism Board as Larnaka's first plastic-free beach.
- Mackenzie sits by the site of Larnaca's old airport and is a known plane-spotting beach.
Larnaca is the easiest place in Cyprus to swim in town: its three Blue Flag beaches are in the town itself, and Visit Cyprus describes the water at most of the beaches on this list as calm and shallow. These are the 10 we would pick in 2026, with the facilities confirmed by Visit Cyprus, the Larnaka Tourism Board and the Deputy Ministry of Tourism.
What changed for Larnaca's beaches in 2026?
At the national Blue Flag ceremony at Nissi Beach on 11 June 2026, Larnaca municipality received four flags: Finikoudes, Kastella, Mackenzie and Yanathes. By the CYMEPA update reported on 17 July, three were flying, and all three offer facilities for people with mobility difficulties. Flags can be lowered mid-season, so check the current list before you go; our Blue Flag beaches guide explains how.
The other 2026 story was lifeguards. On 11 August the Interior Ministry said Larnaca district had 19 lifeguard towers, of which only 10 were staffed, citing a shortage of qualified lifeguards. Days later, on 15 August, a woman drowned at the CTO beach in Pyla shortly after the lifeguard shift had ended. A new certification system is due in 2027.
