• Old Kakopetria and the Mylos tis Gonias: The restored old quarter of Kakopetria is a protected heritage site of stone alleys and wooden balconies; its watermill ground grain from 1754 until after the Second World War and was restored in 1980.
• Linos Museum, Kakopetria: Rural-life museum in a stone building in old Kakopetria with sections on wine, bread and olive oil, including a donkey-driven grape-crushing lever.
• Panagia Podithou, Galata: UNESCO-listed former monastery church north of Galata, dated by inscription to 1502, with a gilded wooden iconostasis and Italo-Byzantine murals; ring ahead (22923548 or 99720918) to visit.

• Carry at least 1.5 litres of water per person and a hat; there is little shade on many Cyprus trails from May to October.
• Start early in summer and avoid the hottest hours (12:00–16:00).
• Wear proper walking shoes: paths are often stony and steep in places.
• This is a demanding route: allow extra time and don't walk it alone if you're not used to mountain paths.
