Paphos 3 – Paphos to Lara, Fontana Amorosa & Baths of Aphrodite

• Agios Georgios Pegeia archaeological site: Roman and Early Christian settlement on Cape Drepano that flourished under Justinian I, with three Early Christian basilicas, a 6th-century bath and a rock-cut necropolis facing Yeronisos island. Open daily; closed on public holidays.
• Avakas Gorge: About 2 km along the dirt road south of the Agios Georgios chapel, a small bridge crosses the Avakas riverbed and signposts lead to the gorge.
• Lara Bay turtle conservation station: Protected nesting beach for green and loggerhead turtles; nesting is from May to August, with hatchlings emerging mainly in August. Follow the station's rules on the beach.
• Baths of Aphrodite: Grotto and botanical garden past Latchi harbour where, in myth, Aphrodite bathed and met Adonis.

• Anassa, Neo Chorio (Latchi coast): Hotel on the coast road between Latchi and the Baths of Aphrodite, close to where the Akamas tracks begin.
• Droushia Heights Hotel, Drousia: Renovated 48-room hotel at about 600 m on the edge of Drousia, described as a base for hiking, mountain biking and birdwatching.
• Akamanthea Holiday Village, Polis Chrysochous: Holiday village with gardens and a waterside path in Polis, convenient for the start of the Polis and Akamas routes.

• The only drinking water mentioned on the Akamas tracks is at the chapel of Agios Kononas, beyond Lara.
• A mountain bike with front suspension is needed for the dirt tracks and climbs over the Akamas ridge.
• The beach by the Baths of Aphrodite has a tourist pavilion.
